Noninvasive Radiologic Diagnosis of Extracranial Vascular Pathologies

Abstract

Atherosclerosis of arteries may develop in the result of a number of risk factors, like hypercholesterinemia; arterial hypertension; smoking; diabetes mellitus; obesity; psychological, emotional, and hereditary factors; gender; and age. Evidence of atherosclerosis in young age requires early diagnostics of the disease and active prevention of risk factors. Hence, highly efficient, non-invasive diagnostic equipment is necessary for the assessment of early atherosclerotic changes in vascular walls.
