Abstract
Klabbers (2006) has pointed out that the diversity of gaming simulation approaches and applications is partly related to the fact that researchers, designers and facilitators who are contributing to the field of gaming simulation find themselves in a dual position. Actors in gaming simulation may represent two distinct branches of science: the design sciences and the analytical sciences. In this article we discuss different forms of applications of gaming simulation. We describe a specific simulation game, SysTeamsChange, as a case example to show how a single game artifact can be used for a variety of facets within the science of design approach.
