Abstract
The placement of vaginal mesh for pelvic organ prolapse has created one of the greatest dilemmas for surgeons of our generation. Based on current guidelines there are few indications for its use. As a result of publicity clinicians are likely to see patients with complaints about vaginal mesh. Clinicians seeing these patients must make detailed notes and should have a low threshold to refer them to centres who have the necessary expertise and experience in dealing with these cases.
