Abstract
About 20–30 thousand cases of osteonecrosis are identified in the United States each year and about 10% of hip replacements are performed for a diagnosis of osteonecrosis. It can affect young individuals and frequently complicates trauma at the femoral neck and various rheumatic diseases because of chronic steroid exposure.
