Abstract
This chapter introduces the book about new Yugoslav feminism, a critical, counter-discursive, dissenting phenomenon within the Yugoslav system. The new Yugoslav feminists targeted the proclaimed, yet to them, unfulfilled equality of women in Yugoslavia. After summarising the main characters, the major events and the most influential intellectual inspirations for the group, the introduction discusses in detail the definitions of a variety of forms of intellectual resistance, from critique through dissent to dissidence. The methodology of the entire book is explained here, combining feminist historiography with intellectual history and the history of political thought and integrating approximately 20 interviews into the analysis.
