Abstract
This chapter provides a framework for using public procurement of innovation to trigger servitization with environmental goals. The research builds upon several cases of Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) in the Canary Islands, showing different scenarios faced by public procurers concerning energy services. The framework suggests four stages to help the public sector to overcome barriers toward performance procurement and to choose the most beneficial set of ESCOs services. At the same time, the tool can be useful for managers interested in competing in public tenders and defining the most adequate bundle of products, services, and outcomes.
