Abstract
Orthopaedic surgery has developed tremendously over the last 100 years. The development of anaesthesia, aseptic techniques and radiological imaging were paramount in the progress of orthopaedic surgery. The extraordinary array of instruments and implants available to the orthopaedic surgeon today would have been inconceivable few decades previously.
