Abstract

The introductory chapter sets the stage for the volume and consists of two basic parts. The first provides a general overview of the literature on and framework for the context of international research collaboration, within which the specific dynamics of North-South university research partnerships are discussed, particularly with regard to their development in Latin America and the Caribbean. The second half of the introduction presents the structure of the book and introduces synopses of the different chapters included.
