Imaging of Intestinal Transplantation

Abstract

The intestine is the least common organ transplanted. It may be transplanted alone as an isolated intestinal transplant, en bloc with the liver, or as a multivisceral graft with the liver that may include any combination of the intestine with the liver and stomach, pancreas, spleen, kidney, or colon. Radiologic assessment of patients with isolated intestinal or multivisceral transplants includes preoperative assessment of transplant candidates and the postoperative evaluation of complications. This chapter reviews the indications, surgical anatomy, radiologic evaluation of transplant candidates, and imaging of postoperative complications.
