Abstract
One of the main challenges faced in implementing ERP systems is how to efficiently manage a project of this size. This article presents the case of the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio de Janeiro – IFRJ, which established a process-based project management solution to implement the ERP system, showing the preliminary results achieved and advantages expected with the conclusion of the program. The PMBOK method was chosen to implement the ERP, while concepts of business process management (BPM) are being used to support the activities carried out in the project. The adjustment and alignment of the methods have enabled the team to implement the system considering its complexity, interconnections and the particularities of the institute. The benefits attained from the modules implemented so far are improved agility of services, greater assertiveness in decision making e better performance, all achieved through the adoption of integrated project management.
