Abstract
Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is a disease caused by protozoan parasites (Leishmania spp.), transmitted by the bites of phlebotomine sandflies and that generally appears as an asymptomatic erythematous papule/nodule with a central erosion/ulcer or crust at the site of bite. Some dermatoscopic features can help to recognize CL and to monitor treatment response. The most common dermatoscopic finding is a diffuse erythema associated with yellowish-orange areas. Moreover, yellow tear-like structures and polymorphous vessels may be visualized in early forms, while white starburst-like peripheral projections around a central ulcer/erosion or crust are generally observed in advanced lesions.
