Abstract

Children with a neurogenic bladder have a denervated, paralyzed sphincter and pelvic floor in approximately 40% of cases. They need surgery to become dry and CIC to empty the bladder after surgery. Children with an overactive pelvic floor are dry on CIC but may need bladder surgery in case the bladder develops hostile pressures for the upper tract. Techniques of bladder neck surgery, slings, bladder augmentation techniques and catheterisable stomas will be described
