Abstract
Two-dimensional echocardiography represents a fundamental imaging tool in the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC); quantitative assessment of RV dimensions and function represents a key element by which to achieve formal diagnosis in this pathology. Evaluation of RV morphology and function using 2D echocardiography is difficult due to the complex geometry of the RV chamber and to the lack of standardization of RV measurements in common clinical practice. Nevertheless, a complete qualitative and quantitative assessment of the RV is crucial in ARVC due to the typical morphofunctional features of the disease. Furthermore, left ventricular involvement and tricuspid regurgitation are frequent in ARVC patients and represent important parameters for prognostic stratification.
