A Comparison of DTA Evaluating Methods of DTA Experiments with Tertiary Butylperpivalate as a Testing Substance

  • Chapter
Thermal Analysis

Abstract

To compare several methods, used to evaluate DTA experiments, the peroxide tertiary butylperpivalate was degraded. Non-isothermal conditions were applied and kinetic constants were evaluated. The results show that the methods of Borchardt-Daniels and Coats-Redfern turned out to be most appropriate. These were the most accurate and the least time-consuming. These are also comparable to isothermal results. The activation energy of the decomposition of tertiary butylperpivalate is 123 kJ mole-1 and the frequency factor is 3,8.1014 s-1.
