Abstract
Due to the study area’s complex setting and the multiple factors and mechanisms involved in determining its groundwater dynamics, several approaches were used when conducting the research presented in the following chapter. Field work included set-up and maintenance of the autonomous measurement network, and sporadic field measurements in surface streams, caves, and springs. Data from public observation networks were also used. The data was analysed using multiple approaches. The data was interpreted through the use of basic hydraulic principles as well as incorporating geological and speleological data obtained from other works. The plausible concepts and mechanisms were tested through the use of simple hydraulic models.
