Abstract
Even when many forms of sharing presume moral sentiments and have morally significant consequences, the ethics of sharing has yet to be systematically discussed. This chapter examines the idea of sharing from the ethical perspective. Specifically, why is ethics important for sharing? And what is the nature of the ethical experience in sharing behaviors and relations? This chapter posits three different ways of experiencing ethics in sharing. They are namely, sharing ethics as virtues, sharing ethics as principles of justice and beneficence, and sharing ethics as ethical expertise.
