Abstract
The paper concerns the implementation of the project “Compiling and publishing bilingual learners’ terminology glossaries for engineering universities of Kirghizstan” that was initiated by Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University (MADI) and supported by “Russian and Kirghiz Consortium of Technical Universities” and “Russkiy Mir” Foundation. The goal of the project was compiling five learners’ Russian-Kirghiz and Kirghiz-Russian concise terminology glossaries “Transportation tunnels”, “Automobile roads and infrastructure”, “Automobile service”, “Bridges”, and “Customs”. The glossaries are intended for engineering undergraduate, graduate and post graduate students, university educators and researchers of Kirghizstan. The paper describes the approach applied for compiling the glossaries, their structure and contents, the main stages of the project implementation. It also covers the linguistic problems revealed, the main results of the glossaries usage and the potential of the project.
