Abstract
There are many quotes or song titles that can explain my professional journey, but the one that has always stood out to me is “The Long and Winding Road” by The Beatles (Lennon and McCartney 1970, track 6). When people ask me about how I got to where I am now and what I am doing this song title has always been my response. When I was in school I, similar to many high schoolers, didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I plodded my way through high school thinking I might do something in the medical field. I discovered after my first semester in college that a career in the medical field was not my path and all I had to show for it was a low GPA. My brother stepped in at that point and recommended I take a basic theater class as a way of boosting my GPA back up and so I followed his recommendation. Little did I know that this class would open my first door of opportunity and put me on the path that my career would take. I made the choice to go through that door and pursued a double major in theatre and interior design.
