Abstract
It is well accepted that our practice should be based on evidence-based medicine (EBM). EBM is promoted as conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in the decision making about individualised patients care. However, it is often viewed as the Holy Grail. But when meniscus surgery is considered, there is a huge gap between scientific evidence and daily practice. In recent times, there has been a vogue to ‘save the meniscus’, which has promoted repair or preservation in the meniscus whatever the type of the meniscus lesion, traumatic or degenerative.
