Abstract
To determine recommendations regarding how to better ensure community nutrition resilience in Greater Miami, this chapter looks at examples of other cities that have addressed the topic in their policy and planning efforts. It examines Boston’s similar challenges, New York City’s integration of food systems in the city’s resilience plan as well as the transparent measurement and reporting of progress, and Baltimore’s integrated food policy efforts. Also discussed are Orlando’s leadership and integrated planning and programs and Los Angeles’ food policy council. The chapter also summarizes learnings from other cities, for example, related to their approach to the cultural change that is required to address community nutrition resilience. Finally, food waste and recovery is examined as an area that is gaining momentum.
