Abstract
Interest in Industry 4.0 has grown significantly in both academic and industrial societies. However, there are still many challenges and barriers to move from concept to reality. This paper addresses this research-practice gap by analysing the development of Industry 4.0 within the German industry highlighting the main lessons learned.
