Abstract

Students arrive for their first Mindful Medical Practice (MMP) class, coffee cups, water bottles, and cellphones in hand. Many are talking to each other and/or texting as they walk in. Some enter the class and have a look of surprise on their face when they see the chairs (with no desks or tables) facing each other in a circle. They may or may not make eye contact with the teacher as they choose their seat. They finally all arrive and are seated.
