Abstract
The multiple challenges and obstacles to attaining African continental and Diasporic unification are delineated and analyzed. These include internal constraints, such as superannuation of leadership and associated corruption in several countries, counter-democratic trends, inter-tribal armed conflict, the role of women, vestigial colonial income disparity, vulnerability to biogenic disasters & to periodic epidemics and environmental insouciance. There are, nonetheless, encouraging trends and opportunities, as evidenced by increased multilateral agency sustainable economic development initiatives throughout the continent, a coming-of-age for Africa’s regional and sub-regional organizations, as well as some improvement in leapfrog technological accessibility.
