Abstract
The discussions about overfishing did not escape this atmosphere of heated and polarised debate, either. In 10 years the world of fisheries scientists, previously a rather impassive nerdy maths club of biologists, ecologists and economists, had changed into a swirling shark pond in which only the strongest were able to survive. There was a true war between movements, which was being fought tooth and nail. Take the iconic battle between Daniel Pauly and Ray Hilborn.
