Abstract

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the performance of vibration energy harvesting through the experiment verification of an electromagnetic induced bi-stable oscillator. The nonlinear vibration systems normally have wider bandwidth of effective energy harvesting and larger collected electric energy than the linear systems. The nonlinear bi-stable oscillating structure can be described by the Duffing equation. According to the different states of the bi-stable vibration behavior, the vibration responses in time and frequency domain are investigated experimentally. The voltage output in the electromagnetic coil that is induced by the magnetic oscillator is measured. The parameter study is conducted in this research by analyzing the vibration responses and thereafter voltage output in case of various excitation frequency as well as excitation amplitude.
