Abstract
It is a measure of the EU’s success that its original objective of ‘peace and prosperity’, today, inspires very little enthusiasm in its citizens. Younger generations grew up in an open, prosperous, and safe Europe. For them, the EU needs to be about something else, if it is to stay relevant. Which threats and opportunities that the younger generations of Europeans face could serve as a new common project that can guide European integration? And why is such a common project so crucial for the EU’s ability to sell itself to its public?
