Abstract
The authors offer a historic review of the making of polytechnic education; they also highlight dynamics of its development at the Russian Far Eastern territory as compared with the general global trends.
The article emphasizes that the principal centers for engineering education at this territory are Primorsky Krai and Khabarovsky Krai. The content of polytechnic education curricula at the local universities is formed based on analysis of general global trends in science, technology, and culture. The content of engineering education is also influenced by regional factor, which, in its turn, is shaped by the needs of economic development both of the Russian Far East and of APR countries. Within the frames of study conducted, the authors conclude that, despite the positive changes, the weak part of polytechnic education at the Russian Far East is insufficient training of agro industrial engineers.
