Abstract
Interest in Michael Oakeshott’s work and thought has continued to grow and is gaining an international audience. These essays, engaging his ideas on authority, governance, and the state, utilize newly available materials and contribute to both perennial and contemporary questions in political theory. Each essay makes a unique contribution both to understanding Oakeshott and to a host of important theoretical and practical inquiries. Each suggests a different reason for Oakeshott’s continuing significance and appeal.
