Abstract
Indapur is a city and a municipal council in Pune district in the Indian state of Maharashtra and located at western part of Maharashtra state in India. Bhima River Originating at Bhimashankar in Ambegaon Taluka of Pune district it flows southeast for 861 km through Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Telangana states. In Maharashtra, the river flows a length of 450 km. along the river stretch, there are about 7000 industries comprising Large, Medium and small scale units. Most of the industries are located in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). The river is 80% polluted by industries pollution and 20% by domestic wastewater also Bhima basin has been subjected to excessive pressure of anthropogenic activities such as religious festivals attracting millions of pilgrims through the year, growing pollution by urban centers and growing sugarcane cultivation. The Water in river, thus carry large amounts of matter comprising inorganic, organic and dissolved matter, which make the water unsuitable for direct use. The present work attempts to study the Bhima river water characteristics and its analysis for the stretch of the Bhima River from Paragon to Indapur to check the monthly variation in water quality of Bhima River.
