Abstract

This chapter reports on the quality-of-life of teachers in Sudan. The study investigates the factors that contribute to quality in the life of teachers, as indicated by factors such as travel distance to and from their place-of-work, teacher accommodation, community engagement, and parental involvement in the teaching and learning environment. Inadvertently, the study also indirectly alludes to the quality of life of the pupils and the parents involved in Sudanese schools, as reflected by access to safe water, infrastructure and the availability of basic learning materials. The chapter uses direct quotes by teachers to create a conversational narrative that illustrates the realities of life for teachers in Sudan.
