Abstract
Sports-related hip pathologies are not uncommon. They are less represented in the literature compared to the other large joints in the body. Sports injuries to the hip joint can be grouped according to the structures injured into intra-articular or extra-articular injuries. Knowledge of the surgical anatomy, clinical assessment, and imaging options that helps in arriving at the diagnosis is discussed. Specific diagnostic challenges and management options are explored, which include surgical and nonsurgical techniques. Appropriately managed resolution of symptoms can be expected in majority of patients.
