Abstract
1st metatarsophalangeal joint fusion is a time-tested procedure that remains the gold standard for surgical treatment on end-stage 1st metatarsophalangeal joint arthritis. When conservative treatment fails, surgical intervention is often necessary. In this chapter the authors detail the surgical technique to get reproducible results. Revision surgery, which at times presents unique challenges, is also discussed.
