Abstract

Psychosomatic medicine, along with profound culture soil, has a distant source and a long stream in China. Inner Cannon of Huangdi, with the earliest record of Psychosomatic Medicine, explained the relationship of body and spirit. People can have a long and healthy life with the harmony of spirit and body. After China Reform and Opening-up, bio-psycho-social model promotes the development of modern psychosomatic medicine. The reappraisal of biomedical model was initially discussed utilizing the dialectical method. China acquired a clear modern language for psychosomatic medicine thanks to the development of modern world psychosomatic medicine. After that, psychiatry and psychology developed very quickly in China. Psychiatry and psychology institutions and departments were established to provide help to the psychosomatic medicine. Bio-psycho-social medicine model, after being imported, has aroused great interests in the medical fields, especially in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), because the bio-psycho-social model is in line with the TCM regarding the theory of the unity of nature and the human, integration of form and spirit. Additionally, the development of the TCM on psychosomatic medicine was widely and quickly. In conclusion, although Psychosomatic Medicine has experienced ups and downs, its tenacious vitality continues to this day. Nowadays, psychosomatic medicine, with more and more people getting to know and accept, has achieved unprecedented popularity and is integrated into the trend of world medical development.
