Abstract

This chapter reviews the extent of Uganda’s participation in space activities. We also review Uganda’s history, economic activities, geographic location and its participation in space related treaties. Uganda faces many challenges as a country in the eastern region of Africa—including but not limited to refugee spill over and old technology and infrastructure that is used in their agricultural sector. We dissect its socio-economic status and the various laws currently in place which are a fulfilment of its international obligations. Uganda has managed to localise international laws in order to advance their economic activities. The most visible of these economic activities stem from the promulgation of the Uganda Communications Act. Activities such as radio and telecommunications plays an important role in the country’s economy.
