Abstract
The Discussion chapter provides a more in-depth look at the policy and practice implications of Penelope Trickett’s research on child maltreatment. The chapter begins with an overview of the current state of literature in the research to policy and practice gap, and specific recommendations for solutions. The chapter then provides an overview of key federal policies and services which address prevention and treatment of child maltreatment, linking them to key findings from Dr. Trickett’s research portfolio. Next, specific policy and practice implications from the studies in this monograph are detailed, particularly as they pertain to specific current federal policies and legislation as well as current prevention and treatment practices. These implications are tied to extant recommendations for the research to policy and practice gap, in an effort to bridge this chasm.
