Abstract

There is a range of motor and perceptual competence which is considered to be within normal limits. Those who perform at the highest levels of competency will be considered to be talented in some areas of activity. Amongst this group will be sports people of local, national and international repute as well as those with exceptional practical skills.

A child-like man is not a man whose development has been arrested; on the contrary, he is a man who has given himself a chance of continuing to develop long after most adults have muffled themselves in the coccoon of middle-aged habit and convention. Aldous Huxley, 1931
