Abstract
One may discern two main orientations in research in the treatment of alcoholics. On the one hand, there are client studies and, on the other, there has been research into the results of treatment. To a lesser extent attention has also been paid to the way in which organization providing treatment actually operates. Among other things, Bruun points out that “unfortunately the content of the treatment and the actual working procedure have virtually been left unstudied. Research has been directed towards clients; we know a lot about their childhoods and the results of the Rorschach tests, but really very little of the staff and its methods of operating (Bruun, 1972, p. 310).
This agency is called the PAVI office, by its Finnish name.
