Biochemistry of Crystalluric as Compared to Non-Crystalluric Stone Formers

Abstract

The formation of calcium-oxalate-containing stones in the urinary tract is becoming an increasingly important medical problem (1), An increase in the amounts of calcium oxalate and uric acid in the urine increases the risk of calcium oxalate crystalluria (2). Excessive crystal-luria is an important risk factor in urolithiasis (3). The present study compares the routine biochemical values of 100 crystalluric stone patients and 100 non-crystalluric stone patients.
