Abstract
For the major processes of metal production, i.e., casting (solidification), rolling (plastic deformation) and annealing (recrystallization) of FCC metals, some of the evolving typical textures are presented and examples of characteristic effects of important material and process parameters on microstructure and related textural features are discussed. It is emphasized that texture analysis can be applied to investigate these processes and their underlying physical mechanisms and so better understand, control and improve related fabricating processes.
