Abstract

During the last generation, several factors have increased the enrollment of minority students in colleges and universities. Urbanization, changes in the occupational world that require more training, the growth of the middle classes, private efforts, and governmental programs are among those factors. These have collided with a number of forces that we shall be discussing as we examine the changes in the levels and kinds of higher education among Blacks, Hispanics, and Native Americans.
