Abstract
Blends of NR-PP and NR-LLDPE innoculated with liquid natural rubber, LNR form thermoplastic material with improved physical properties. The glass transition temperatures, as shown by DMA measurement, of NR-PP and NR-LLDPE are -50°C and -55°C respectively. Addition of LNR into the blends causes the thermal expansion of the material to decrease by about 30% in both NR-PP and NR-LLDPE systems. In the NR-PP system for blends with and without LNR the expansion set in at 35°C and 42°C respectively. In NR-LLDPE blend addition of LNR causes the set in expansion to increase from 35°Cto55°C. The measured glass transition temperature sand the thermal expansibility of the blends denote the introduction of an interphase interaction on addition of LNR into the blend. The role of LNR in compatibilizing the NR-plastic phase will be discussed
