Abstract
Since the 1980s, there has been the advancement of the so-called object database management systems (ODBMS) as an alternative to the relational database model for database systems. Indeed, the argument has been made that object databases would be more ideal for scenarios such as multimedia systems and CAD (computer-aided design) systems. This chapter discusses such systems under the following subheadings.
