Spin-Dependent Inelastic Electron Scattering from Three-Nucleon Bound States

Abstract

The talk extends the theoretical description1–4 of inelastic electron scattering in plane wave impulse approximation (PWIA) to inclusive processes with polarized electron beams and polarized trinucleon targets. A polarized 3He target is especially interesting as a possible substitute for a neutron spin target5. The notion of a spin-dependent spectral function is introduced6. It is the actual technical back-bone of the calculations. Examples for 3He spin structure functions are given in the region of quasi-elastic scattering. The extension to deep-inelastic scattering is indicated.
