  • Chapter
Book cover Cancer, AIDS, and Quality of Life

Abstract

Recent research found that 33% of cancer patients still develop anxiety and depression as a result of their diagnosis and treatment [1]. This anxiety and depression seriously impairs the quality of patients’ lives. It causes much personal suffering, interferes with their day to day functioning, delays return to work, affects their personal relationships and decision making. So, it is important to find ways of preventing the development of these affective disorders.
