Abstract
Campylobacter jejuni is the most common cause of acute bacterial enteritis in man4. In the Netherlands it has been estimated that the annual incidence of campylobacteriosis is 1,200 – 2,500 cases per 100,000 persons10. The associated economic consequences in terms of lost working days and cost of treatment, are considerable.
