Abstract

The induction of specific P450 enzymes is difficult to study in man but non-human primates may provide a useful model for this purpose. At present little is known about the inducibility of P450 in the liver or extrahepatic tissues of primates. Previous investigations have shown that several P450s are inducible in the marmoset monkey (Callithrix jacchus) by compounds such as phenobarbital or 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) (Schulz-Schalge & Webb, 1989; Schulz-Schalge et al., 1991a).
