Relationships of Tuber, Elaphomyces, and Cyttaria (Ascomycotina), Inferred from 18S rDNA Studies

  • Chapter
Ascomycete Systematics

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((NSSA,volume 269))

Summary

18S rDNA sequences from members of the genera Elaphomyces and Tuber (hypogeous ascomycetes) and from Cyttaria were compared with homologous sequences from members of the Leotiales, Neolectales, and Pezizales. Preliminary results from cladistic parsimony analyses indicated that Elaphomyces (Elaphomycetales) and Tuber (Juberales) may be nested within Pezizales, and that Cyttaria (Cyttariales) may be an ingroup in the Leotiales. The isolated position of Neolecta was confirmed.
