Abstract
Photosensitive fiber Bragg gratings have been extremely successful as in-line reflection filters and are ideal as building blocks in new designs of wavelength selective optical components such as narrow-band transmission and wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) filters[1]. We propose a fiber device structure which combines the wavelength selective properties of fiber Bragg gratings with the broad spectral bandwidth of ultrashort optical pulses for applications to optical communications.
