Dynamic Range Extension of Photosensitive Device Array

  • Chapter

Abstract

A locally adapting filter/photosensitive detector array system is analyzed for use in image acquiring systems. Different transmittance characteristic filter models are investigated to extend the global light intensity operating range as well as to enhance detection in less illuminated regions of the image. This is confirmed by the results of experiments using glass and plastic Photochromic Adaptation Filters.
