Thermopower of Dilute Magnetic Alloys

  • Chapter

Abstract

Calculations and measurements of the thermopower in Kondo and localized spin fluctuation (LSF) systems are critically reviewed. For Kondo systems various theories including a recent one of Keiter for the thermopower in a magnetic field are discussed. A relationship between the scattering t-matrices for LSF systems with simple and transition metals as host (as described by the Anderson and Wolff models) is pointed out. Theoretical results for the thermopower in LSF systems are discussed.
